Collection: Direct Drive Air Compressors
Direct-Drive Compressors: Direct-drive compressors run directly from the motor to the compressor pump, so there is no need for a belt.
Benefits:
-
Direct-drive compressors are typically smaller, obviously this is better for smaller deployment areas.
-
Direct-drive compressors are also usually less maintenance-oriented because there’s no belt to replace.
-
Direct-drive compressors are lighter in weight, so they will generally last longer in light to medium-duty uses.
Weaknesses:
-
Direct-drive compressors get hotter because it is so directly attached to the motor, which limits the hours they can run continuously. They also might require cooling in heavy-use scenarios
-
Direct-drive compressors generate more vibration, so they are typically also louder.
